Jasmine
Barbara & Alan had to say goodbye to their loving companion Flo a few months ago. They were ready to open their home and hearts again to another dog needing a home. Being retired, they have the time to devote to a new family member, and Coconut Retriever Jasmine has captured their hearts. Shy and apprehensive, Barbara and Alan are patiently bringing her out her shell while introducing her to her new Canadian life. She is enjoying the daily group gatherings in a field across the road and making some new canine friends

Crystal (Now Maggie)
Moving to another country is stressful for everyone, and dogs are no different. Separating from the life you knew to a life you need is definitely an adjustment. Sights, sounds, smells.....everything is new. Crystal was quite shy when she arrived but is now adjusting with her new family. Crystal, now Maggie, is settling in well with Kim, enjoying lots of love and playtime with her human siblings.

Sol (Now Coco)
Sarah and her two sons have been talking about bringing a dog into their lives for a few years now. In the past it wasn't possible due to their apartment size and work schedule. Sarah has spent the last year and a half creating a schedule where she can be home for many hours during the day and has moved to a larger apartment. The search was now on. One look at Sol was all it took and she knew she had found the perfect match for her family and lifestyle. Sol, now Coco is happily enjoying lots of adventure with her very active family.

Sparky
Sparky was always looking towards the sky waiting for her new family to find her. She looked at all the stars wondering when. A shooting star suddenly appeared and she knew the day had finally arrived. Sparky was so happy, her new family decided to call her Cosmo for the star gazing pup. Cosmo went home that day with Richard and the kids and now she only has eyes for them. Her new family is just as excited to have her in their lives. The stars did a great thing that day and now everyone can live happily ever after.

Blaze
Blaze meet Ching, Ching meet Blaze. That was all it took for the two to know they were meant to be together. Ching in so excited to watch Blaze grow into the most amazing dog ever. Blaze is having a blast with Ching and his close family members. He's learned at lot in a short time and knows for a fact that he was "Rescued with Love". We couldn't be happier for everyone.

Ember (Now Harvey)
Ember, now Harvey, is one lucky pup. Joel and Stacey and their 4 children were looking for a furry addition to add to their family. They had lost their previous dog 2 years ago and so now they are ready to take the leap again! Foster parents Ken and Robin referred to Harvey as a 'gentle giant' because he was so chill with his siblings, even though he was much bigger. Joel and Stacey have a very large yard, even with some forest which is perfect for the kids and Harvey! The kids are into lots of sports so Harvey will be their perfect companion to accompany them to all the games.

Flash
Flash is a lucky boy! Rescued at 6 weeks from fires in the James Bay region, he was moved to Toronto where fosters Robin and Ken took over and provided a wonderful environment for him to settle and grow. Now, at 13 weeks, it was time for him to move to his forever home. Meet Michelle and Eric, their daughter, and15 year old Beagle Beamer and, of course, Flash! Michelle and Eric live near many hiking trails. They are avid hikers so Flash is sure to stay in great shape. Flash is also learning his manners from his new fur-brother Beamer. Michelle and Eric's daughter has been keeping Flash busy playing and giving him lots of love and cuddles.

Buddy
With plenty of past husky and rescue dog experience, much depended on the meet and greet with their Sophie, so a date was made. Buddy checked all their boxes and he jumped into their car without a backwards glance. He now enjoys several acres, a waterfront cottage, lots of adventures and pawrents that so thoroughly enjoy their two lovely dogs.

Rambo (Now Milo)
Rambo had been waiting for a flight buddy for several months and finally made his way to HTDR in early August. initially shy and fearful, it didn't take long for him to come out of his shell and show us his playful side. Thanks to big brother Jasper and his savvy foster parents, Rambo was soon a confident and popular boy. Patty and her sister had been looking for a playful boy to join their family for sometime and Rambo's photos and video stole their hearts and the match was made. Adopted in early September, Rambo, now Milo, was home to celebrate his first birthday with his new family. Congratulations Patty and we look forward to many updates!

Marvin (now Lincoln)
Andrea & Chris were looking for a pup to join their family, and decided that a foster to adopt situation would suit them best. It was a tough decision between Marvin and his sister Lola, but Marvin, now Lincoln, clearly stole their hearts. Lincoln is living an amazing life with his human siblings and a cottage on the lake where he can spend his weekends swimming and running through the sand. Happy life sweet boy!

Rocky
It is heartbreaking when one is ill and can no longer care for their beloved pet. A valued foster reached out about someone they knew who was in this situation and offered to assess the dog. Rocky was well cared for and loved. He is very well behaved, full of beans, loves other dogs and everyone he meets. Rocky was extremely popular and our goal was to duplicate the lifestyle he was used to which was being the only dog in the home and someone home most of the time.
Meet Nicole and her husband Trevor! With plenty of past dog experience, they were now looking for another canine companion. Rocky now gets to enjoy life near Penetanguishe with lots of acreage to explore, plenty of hikes with his new mom and many new dogs to meet.

Roxy
Roxy is a senior Pomeranian who had come from a past of neglect. She desperately needed dental work and recently had all of her teeth extracted. This was a risky surgery for a senior her age with a grade 4 heart murmur, but Roxy was in so much pain we had to help her. Now she is a very happy girl. Foster mom Athina has fallen in love and we couldn't imagine her anywhere else to live out her remaining years. Embraced by cousin Mary and her cat as well as the resident dog Hari, Roxy is living her best life! It took her 15 years to get there but she finally enjoys all the love, attention and a very comfortable bed.

Mick (Now Meeko)
Mick's foster mom, Lynn, describes him as the sweetest pup ever! He is very smart and trains easily. A dream pup. Summer months can be slow in rescue with fewer adoptions, but Mick did find the perfect home. Welcome Danielle and Zach to our Happy Tails family. This couple have a husky male named Arlo who loves other dogs. He is thrilled that he now has a little brother of his own to play with, and in return will show him the ropes. This was the perfect fit for Mick, now Meeko. We look forward to many updates.

Biscuit
Biscuit was rescued after being kept on a hot rooftop in a crate, being used for breeding in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Despite being a puppy mill survivor, this boy charmed everyone with his sweet disposition. He has settled well in his new Canadian life with Shelley and Bruce. Renamed Buddy, he is loving his cottage adventures and everything about his newfound life. Thank you to all involved in this boy's journey to his new life, and there were many.

Lucy
Lucy charmed us all with her incredible ears. This young gal had no shortage of sass for first time foster Dev and his Coconut Retriever Kikki They stepped up to welcome Lucy and introduced her to her new Canadian life. Shereen is recently retired and was now ready to welcome a pup into her home. This little island gal caught her eye on Petfinder and the rest is history. Lucy loves having her own backyard to run, play and chase squirrels all day. Welcome to our Happy Tails family!

Radar
Welcome Emily Tancredi and her fiancé Shanon!
Emily reached out inquiring about whether or not Spud (aka Radar) liked the water. This prompted a beach visit the next day and I suspect he will embrace the water, tentatively at first, but soon eagerly, as he has done with everything else that has been new to him. This very active couple have been looking for a pup for a few months, one who would embrace their outdoor lifestyle, and Radar checked all the boxes. Living on the Ottawa River, Radar has plenty of adventures ahead, kayaking, running, cottage visits and plenty of local and family dogs to play with.

Bodhy
Bodhy is a spunky gal who is smart as a whip, needing no decompression time when she entered foster care. She kept her foster mom on her toes with her crazy antics and comical ways. Small in stature, she was still able to navigate counter surfing by moving a stool to hop up on. Anna and Jimmy had recently lost their loving companion and were ready to bring some happiness back into their home. Bodhy was a big hit and wonderful addition to their active family. In addition, she has 3 adult human brothers to keep up with her.

Sophie
Sophie arrived in the spring, from Bahrain, and quickly settled in with her foster family and brother Jasper. This active girl loved her adventures camping and park visits with her foster family, and the search was on to find her person who could provide the same in her furever home. Sometimes fate steps in. HTDR Alumni Dean recently lost Rusty and was missing him immensely. He wasn't sure he was ready for another - however, Sophie kept popping up on social media and he was intrigued. Coming solo to the HTDR Pawty, Dean had plenty of time to speak to her fosters, see Sophie interact with all the other dogs and he quickly fell in love. Sophie went home with him that night and has adapted quickly to life in the county with lots of hikes and plenty of swims. Dean and Sophie are so in sync and we couldn't be happier for both of them.
Thank you to our wonderful fosters for going above and beyond to support Sophie !

Isabella
Isabella was one of three pups from a remote northern Manitoba community. This beautiful tricoloured girl was very inquisitive, ready to take on the world and won the hearts of all who met her. Manisha had always wanted a dog of her own, but until she was in a home and settled, this was on the back burner. A recent search on Petfinder and Isabella's photo sealed the deal! Isabella is now adapting to life in Guelph, close to plenty of walking trails and in a neighbourhood with plenty of dogs. They are ready to start their summer with plenty of family visits, weekend camping and a cottage rental. We can't wait to see many updates to come! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this amazing pup's journey ❤

Loofie (Now Charlie)
Small but mighty, Loofie was one special pup. Sarah and Matthew had grown up with dogs, and once in their own home, decided it was time to search for their own pup. Committed to rescue, this engaged couple were the perfect fit for Loofie, now known as Charlie. With plenty of family, and their dogs close by, active pawrents, Charlie is surrounded by a network of committed dog lovers and having dad work from home is a bonus. Charlie is one lucky pup and we look forward to many updates! Thank you to everyone involved in the journey

Lola (Now Tuk)
Playful and spirited Lola was a popular girl. It's been a couple of years since losing their last family dog, Jaq, and Lisa and Dan were now ready to welcome a new addition to their family. One look at Lola was all it took and they were in love. Lisa could not contain her joy when she met Lola, now named Tuk. Lucky Tuk is now enjoying her weekends at the family cottage which happens to be in the same area as her brother Marvin's adoptive family. Tuk is living her best life with Lisa, Dan, Russell, Dana and two other adult human siblings. She loves playing with Nova, Russell's dog. Happy life sweet girl!

Sunny
Sunny and two other siblings came from Northern Manitoba. Sunny's tail is always wagging . Hayley and Sam were looking for a puppy to join them, and Sunny was their choice. With many family members with dogs, a cottage for the summer and ski chalet in the winter, Sunny, now Nelson, has plenty of adventures ahead. Living close to Trinity Bellwoods, his daily adventures are also full of surprises! Nelson now walks well on a leash and he is picking up lots of tricks with this active couple.

Coco (Now Lotus)
Sometimes, life happens. Coco was adopted at 4 months of age from another rescue. Four months later life circumstances changed and the adopters knew they could no longer give to her what she truly needed. They made the painstaking decision to surrender her to us in order to find her the family that she needed and deserved. Coco, now shy of 9 months of age, has found exactly that with Cody and Tara. Coco, now Lotus, has blended in beautifully to their country life with many adventures in store for her. Welcome to our Hopeful Tails family Cody, Tara and Lotus. Lotus, you are one very lucky girl!!!

Beau
When a dog first joins our rescue, their first stop is a foster home where they are given the time to decompress and be assessed by a partner veterinarian to ensure they are in good health. During their time in foster care, we can then assess their true personality and what their needs are to find a suitable forever home. When a plea was put out on social media, not only did we find a foster home for Leo, but a foster to adopt home. Coming from Bahrain, it takes some time to adjust to a new life in Canada. Bryn and Matthew were patient with Leo, now Beau, while he adjusted to Canadian life. Beau has now adjusted well to his new life and has a new bff named Ollie, another Bahrain dog that was previously adopted by Bryn's parents.
Beau will be enjoying lots of cottage visits and he is lucky that his family often work from home, so lots of snuggle time as well. Welcome Bryn, Matthew and Beau to our Happy Tails family.

Sparkle (Now Marla Hooch)
Sparkle is a Coconut Retriever that knows exactly what she wants. On her first night in foster care, she decided dog beds do not belong on a floor. She dragged her bed into her foster mom's bedroom and brought it up on the bed with her. She returned to the living room and grabbed two throw blankets to add to her comfortable bed. She has been a constant source of amusement and antics. Erin was drawn to her name, as her nickname is Sparkle. She knew it was meant to be. Sparkle is now known as Marla Hooch, and is living her best life! Thank you Anne for going above and beyond for these sweet Coconuts!!
